County Farm Project
Attention Educators, Parents, and Students!
New in 2010 - A FARM for the students of San Mateo County!
Accepting Class Reservations NOW for the 2011- 2012 School Year!
The unique and rich heritage of the San Mateo County Coastside retains hundreds of agricultural acres proudly producing an annual economy and local vegetables sought after across the nation, such as Green Globe artichokes, peas, veans, Brussels sprouts, potatoes, pumpkins, strawberries, and much, much more.
The San Mateo County Health Department and The HEAL Project are pleased to announce this exciting FARM Pilot project. Opened in September 2010, the San Mateo County student farm offers San Mateo County students a unique opportunity to connect with the soil, plant, and harvest their own fruit and vegetables.

Learning adventures await San Mateo County student farmers! Visiting classes are given their own section of the farm to plant, guided by the HEAL Farm Coordinator. Visiting Educators may select from activity lessons in the Farm Curriculum with focus on specific study areas such as:
- Plant and Earth Science
- Soil and Water Conservation
Nutrition - Food systems and Agriculture
- Local History or local Economics

The Farm curriculum, developed to help students make relevant connections to the world around them through hands-on experience, is developed to CA Academic Standard content with activities led by a professional, certified Instructor. Parents are welcomed and encouraged to chaperone the classroom farm visits and help bring important lessons home!
